The Princess of Wales has resumed her duties as a royal family member. On December 3, she participated in welcoming the Emir of Qatar in London, marking her most notable public appearance since starting cancer treatment.
The Princess welcomed the Emir of Qatar
The Princess and her husband, Prince William, welcomed Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher, in London on behalf of the King.
After welcoming the Emir of Qatar and his wife to Prince William’s private residence, the Princess of Wales traveled with Sheikha Jawaher to their ceremonial welcome on the Horse Guard Parade.?
The men arrived in another chauffeur-driven car.
The Princess seems to be recovering
Her Royal Highness did not just stun in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coat and Sahar Millinery hat and seems to be recovering well from treatment.
She was seen carrying out more duties at the ceremony than planned, which is viewed as a ‘positive sign’ among royal circles.
She then travelled to Buckingham Palace
Following the ceremonial welcome at the Horse Guard Parade, the Princess traveled to Buckingham Palace for a private lunch, where she stayed to view a collection of Qatari artifacts from the Royal Collection.?
Queen Camilla missed the event for health reasons.
The Queen is decreasing her involvement
While The Princess of Wales seems to be returning to business as usual, Queen Camilla is reducing her involvement in royal obligations to take better care of her health.
This caused her to miss the ceremonial welcome, and she was only present at the palace.
Kate and William attended with big smiles
The Prince and Princess stepped out of their car onto the royal dais, offering a deep curtsy to the King before greeting the lined-up officials.
The two remained on the stage, making light conversation with Sheikha Jawaher.
The King spoke to his guests
King Charles III spoke to his guests at the event, and a Royal Salute and a trumpeter played in the ancient Horse Guards building to welcome the Emir of Qatar.
The Qatari national anthem was also played when the king invited the emir to inspect the Guard of Honour.
They made their way to Buckingham Palace
After the ceremony and the warm welcome, The King, Prince, and Princess made their way to Buckingham Palace. They were joined with the Emir, his wife, and the Qatari Prime Minister.
Prince William and the Qatari Prime Minister exited their car, waiting for Kate at the gates.?
The Princess arrived gracefully
The Princess, who had been greeted by her husband and the Prime Minister of Qatar, wore a matching set of gloves and a handbag. She held hands with the Prince as they walked the Grand Entrance red carpet.
It’s good news that she’s back on duty.
Royal circles are happy to see her back
A royal source said it was “good news” that the Princess of Wales was in attendance, slowly returning to public life after undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment.
The treatment was announced in March of this year after doctors found evidence of cancer while conducting an abdominal surgery in January.
The treatment was completed in September
In September, the Princess shared that her treatment was finally complete but also admitted that it would take her some time to return to public life.?
Today, we see her engaging in royal duties after a painful journey with the disease.?
